Arrival By Train
Arrival By Train is a game where you converse with your partner, Sophie, with nothing but gestures. It is a more experimental type of game, whose primary purpose was to find whether or not bodylanguage (and more specifically, gestures) could be used as a way to play a game. Arrival By Train was my graduation project for the master program at the Utrecht School of the Arts.
While players didn't find a game that was primarly about gestures very fun, this project introduced me to usability, a field I have been focusing on ever since. My main research into color at Kyushu University is an offshoot of this research. My research during this project mostly had to do with observational experiments, where I observed and analyzed the behavior of people during conversatino. This was then translated into a game design. Towards the end of the project, I also helped out with graphic design.
